It got HOT!

Too hot for me and I like the heat.  Trust me I did my fair share of complaining too.  It wouldn’t have been so bad if our AC hadn’t stopped working.  Of course we found out right before Rachel was coming down.  Poor thing, but we got lots of fans and Jill let us borrow her AC unit which helped a lot.  I didn’t get a picture when the temperature reached 105 on Wednesday, but this show how hot it did get in my house.

f378adaded18__1249287752000Crappy phone pic, but I think my phone was sweating too…

Rachel and I tried to stay cool, by driving around, but you eventually need to get out of the car.  Plus with two 3 year olds, it gets a bit interesting.  It has finally cooled off and I was able to sew her up some burp cloths and go through what she still needs.  She was also nice enough to trace and cut out diapers for me, with the promise of coming down some more to help out some.  It made me realize that I may need to hire a babysitter at least once a week so I can work uninterrupted.

I am also excited that I get to make a camera cake for a wedding this weekend!  Although it’s a model that I don’t have, but at least I am able to look up pictures and I had done the basic shape on the practice cake.

Off to finish up some sewing and then off to get my computer fixed up….

Also, this looks amazing and I can’t wait to see it!

Really?!?

Last night we drove two hours to Everett to see The Wiggles.  This is our 3rd year going and the kids had a blast.  Everyone LOVED Lilli’s dress and Murray(He’s the Red Wiggle) even had me hold her up at one point to show it off.  Very proud mommy moment for me!  Lilli kept hugging me all night and telling me that she loved me, then dancing and singing along.  Kaleb even went up towards the stage to dance.

I WOULD show off pictures, but sadly someone tried to take my camera away from me.  The event staff at the Everett Events Centre?  Complete jerks.  Their reasoning for me NOT being able to have my camera?  It has a detachable lens, which may be used as a weapon.  Did every one just laugh?  I did, because really it was funny until I realized they were serious.  You think I am going to detach my $300 lens and throw it at The Wiggles?!?  HOW DARE YOU NOT SING WIGGLY PARTY!  I got a good elbow in as hands were reaching toward my camera.  I asked to speak to supervisors and everyone shook their head and said “They will tell you the same thing” or “They are unavailable” or my favorite “We don’t really have one” mmhmm.  Then it dawned on me as I’m looking around at the crowd of sippy cup totting toddlers.  Exactly how much do these things weigh?  The answer:

CIMG0375

A FULL sippy cup:

CIMG0376

Hmm.  $300 lens OR a $4 sippy cup?  Tough one.  Clearly if you want to injure someone, one usually reaches for the heavier object.  Just a thought.  Not to mention, the Everett Events Centere WAS allowing them to sell merchandise which included The Big Red Car on a STICK.  Which if used properly could be used to blugeon one of The Wiggly Dancers OR the asshat event security guy who “Doesn’t make the rules” and “I don’t know it’s my first day”  First day of what?  Being on a power trip and being an asshole?  Way to go you successfully ensured the saftey of all The Wiggles from a detachable lens throwing crazed mom.  Good for you, make sure you pat yourself on the back for that one.  You really deserve it.

BY THE WAY, here is your camera policy:

Cameras and Recording Devices

As a general rule, cameras and recording devices of any kind are not permitted inside the Comcast Arena at Everett. This is subject to change on an event by event basis. If by chance, a patron brings a camera or recording device to an event, the patron will be asked to return that item to his or her vehicle. The Comcast Arena at Everett cannot hold any personal property belonging to a guest.

Nowhere is it noted that you are not allowed to have a detachable lens camera.  According to this statement on their website NO cameras are allowed, yet EVERY ONE had one and they all got to take their pictures.  Better take everyone’s cell phone away as well.  Those can take pictures too.  The Wiggles HIGHLY encourage picture taking and say so in the beginning of every show.  I wonder what THEY would think about this…

Cloudy Days

We have had a few cloudy/cold days this past week and it has just drained me of my energy for some reason!  So yesterday, I decided to paint my toes an obnoxious shade of pink and take pictures.  As soon as they dried it started to drizzle, but I got my picture anyway!

Happy 4th of July!

Lilli refuses to wear pants or shorts anymore, so I HAD to make her a 4th of July dress!  I got this fabric on super clearance at Walmart, before they closed down their fabric department.  Ugh, that still makes me mad by the way.  Any who!  Here’s what I came up with!  Have I mentioned that I LOVE the snaps for her dresses?  Makes life so much easier.

Happy Father’sDayAnniversay!

Ryan and I saw RENT last night.  IT was amazing.  After I thought I had missed the tickets going on sale, I was super upset, to say the least.  Jesi to the rescue though and she REALLY pulled through!  It was hard to tell where were sitting just from the tickets, because there were SO many numbers and letters going on.  One thing I did know was that we were on the floor and that’s all I really cared about.  We ended up being in the 10th row right smack in the middle!  After we got settled in I got super nervous.  Mainly because Ryan is SO not a theater person and secondly if he didn’t like it/got bored that he might try and talk to me through it.  He was right in the middle on commenting on how little seats were(and they are) when Anthony Rapp walked out.  Then after the first bars of music I saw Ryan’s eyes go really wide and I knew I didn’t have to worry and I let myself get lost in the play.  When Katie and I saw RENT back in 2007 we had the worst seats EVER, but it was still amazing.  From where we were sitting you could almost pretend the cast was original.  Almost, cause the guy playing Roger?  Well he was British.

I fell in LOVE with the guy who played Angel, he did an awesome job and Ryan’s jaw hit the floor when he realized that some dude just jumped off a table in like 4 inch heels.  Angel is my favorite character and even though I knew what was going to happen I bawled later on.  Such is life and lady next to me was nice enough to hand me a tissue.  She asked me afterwards if this was the first time I had seen the play.

I have this thing about just crushing on supporting cast members.  The last time it was the guy who played the waiter.  He was awesome!  This time it was the tiny little Asian girl that played Alexi Darling, the guy who played Gordon, the waiter/window washer for his simple Feliz Navidad and one of the people sitting at the table during La Vie Bohem who stood up and said EW.

There were parts that I was dying to hear such as Anthony say “Mark, MARK, I’m Mark!”  and Adam sing “Who do you think you are/barging in on me and my guitar” lol

As we were leaving and, I had a brief moment of wanting to sit outside the stage door like a stalker, Ryan said that this was teh best Father’s Day present.  I told him it was actually our Anniversary gift, but THAT is a whole other story!

Creative chaos

When I craft I am messy.  Today Katie was coming over to test out my new machine, to see if she wanted to buy one similar or not.  I don’t know what possessed me, but I took all the fabric out of the china hutch and decided to refold and organize the entire thing.  Yeah.  I have a LOT of fabric and notions.  Here is a picture of some of the progress though!  Not too bad, I still have to work  on it some more.

That’s just my diaper making stuff.  I put all my fleece on the bottom and I have a few yards of things to give away on Freecycle or maybe take it to the Goodwill.  Hopefully I will be sharing pictures of my fancy new craft room soon!

Something…

Something is going to change.  I can’t put my finger on it, but I can feel it.  It’s in the air and I can sense it like there is someone behind me.  I hope it’s welcome, whatever it is.  I feel antsy, it’s the weather.  It makes me want to move or pack up everything in the car and drive.  It most likey has something to do with the fact that since getting married we haven’t been in one place for more than 2 years and it’s about that time.  I dunnno.

I am getting ready for my non-kid week and have all sorts of projects lined up.  I am implementing a NO material buying rule for myself.  I have SO much and I really just need to work with what I’ve got.  These projects include: a few newborn sets, a diaper bag, skirts, tops, dresses and diapers of course!  I hope to also build a light box since I really need to learn how to take better product pictures.  I get too impatient by the time I finish up something that I don’t really care what the pictures look like.  Here are a few things that I have finished up!

A dozen Rita Rumps one size.  I LOVE how these go together!

A teeny tiny preemie hat.  It’s SO sweet, it’s hard to tell how small it really is, but I took this picture for Katie who work with the serger thread in the picture.

Preemie sized pants.  I’m always curious about what patterns consider to be preemie sized.  These are more a newborn size in my opinion, but not too difficult to shave down the size.  Still working on the cuffs, since I don’t like how the directions on the pattern says to put them on.

Tiny diapers for a super sweet mama, who made it ALL the way to her due date when she found out that she was expecting TWINS!  She is at the moment STILL waiting to have them, bless her heart.  Those two diapers gave me so much trouble too.  I sewed the size tag on upside down, FORGOT the tag on the other and would just not lay nice for pictures.

I’m on a roll!

Sorta…I got a teasing email about my last post and the fact is that, YES I do listen to country music.  I find myself listening to it more when I am wanting warm weather.  I don’t know why, but I do.  I also listen to Jason Mraz in the summer as well.  What of it?  LOL.  It’s a well know fact that I should be in LA or GA or the like 😉

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this song!

It happens!

Life that is.  Every time I sit down to update, I get side tracked.  My latest project was a custom order and I love how they turned out.  There are 3 Larges and 3 Mediums.  I’m not even going to apologize for the crappy picture.  I seriously need help with taking product pictures….whine, whine, whine….

Then the night that I finished the last of the soakers I started on a dress for Lilli.  I ended up staying up late.  Very late!  I was a chatting with Katie, getting to know her, and sewing.  I finished at 1 am of Mother’s Day and she got to wear it to church.

I love the look of the dress, but I HATE working with those type of collars, so I am going to try a different neckline with her next dress.  Lilli picked out the fabric AND the dress pattern.

I am enjoying my new machine too.  It takes a lot of the guess work out of the machine, my one complaint is that I can sew when the foot is up.  It’s ok though.  I am still keeping my old machine as a back up and for the kids to work on if they show an interest.

Hopefully it won’t be so long in between posts, but my next project is all newborn stuff.  Including a layette set, diaper bag and a few diapers as well.  I have yet ANOTHER pattern that I am trying out.

Oh and just because I love this song, lol.  I love listening to it in the car
